Coyote Sighting Outside Nearby Restaurant Prompts Students To Stay Indoors In Valhalla

Valhalla students had to spend the day indoors after a coyote was spotted outside of Sergio's Restaurant.

A coyote was spotted near Valhalla schools on Friday, causing officials to keep students inside.

The district said in an email to parents around 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, that they made the decision to keep high and middle school students inside after the sighting, which was across the street from the schools at 301 Columbus Ave., Valhalla.

Mount Pleasant Police confirmed the sighting but said nothing was spotted by officers.
